Eden Project Belize is a registered not-for-profit organization located in Sleeping Giant Rainforest, nestled in the Maya Mountains in beautiful Cayo, Belize. We are on a pristine 10 acre plot, next to the 10,000 acre Sibun National Forest Reserve.
We are dedicated to creating food autonomy, restoration and preservation of the rainforest, childhood and adult education, and setting up self-sufficient permaculture systems. We are a destination for school field trips, tourists visiting Cayo district, and volunteers from around the world.
The Three Pillars of the Project:
Education · Conservation · Permaculture
Eden Project Belize is located at Sleeping Giant Rainforest, next to the neighbouring Sibun National Forest Reserve. This is where we are building the Eden Project Belize School of Sustainability, home to both childhood and adult education classes centered around nutrition, conservation, and growing food.
The COVID-19 crisis created widespread food insecurity throughout the country. This highlighted a key issue: despite ideal growing conditions in a lush tropical climate and widespread access to quality seeds, few people in Belize were growing their own food. We decided to help change that.
In addition to living and working harmoniously within the present rainforest, we will also be planting extensive numbers of new trees and indigenous plants, healing the landscape through regenerative soil practices, maintaining a balanced ecosystem, and enriching the already-fertile soil with our organic compost.
Your donation of $20 USD enables us to plant one young fruit tree, as part of our educational curriculum. Trees will provide food for children and families to take home with them, as well as to enjoy on site while visiting Eden Project Belize.
